NFL free agency is starting to really slow down and we are officially entering the 2024 NFL Draft season. The draft is just a few weeks away. So we'll be answering some Detroit Lions draft questions today. It's also WrestleMania season.
Believe it or not, there's a connection between the Lions and WrestleMania. Former Lions linebacker and current special assistant to the CEO and owner Chris Spielman participated at WrestleMania 11.
So I'll be answering some wrestling questions today too and I'll give my full Mania predictions at the end of this post. Let's jump into it.
DJ Reader and Kevin Zeitler are my two favorites for the Lions. They both offer immediate improvements. The one I'm really intrigued by is Marcus Davenport. If he's able to stay healthy, he could be a major threat for the Lions.
The Lions could really use some safety help. They have two good starters, but they have zero depth since there's only two on the roster. An edge rusher is also something this team needs.
The confidence is medium high at the moment. Carlton Davis can be very good and so can Robertson. I still feel like they make one more move at corner and that likely comes in the draft. Maybe even high in the draft.
I think it's pretty high. Not just because Brad Holmes has brought it up multiple times, but because of that giant gap between the the 73rd pick and the 164th pick. That's 91 players the Lions are missing on. If they trade down they could likely pick up an extra second and a late third or early fourth to help remedy that.
It's really beginning to look that way. They may make a small move or two, but I wouldn't expect anything big to happen anytime soon. The Lions may want to roll over some of this extra cap space into next season.
I think Stone Cold will be there and there will be some sort of face to face with The Rock at some point. fully expect Rock to turn on Roman on night two though.
There's multiple reasons. The first is that there always seems to be a problem with Diggs. I don't at all buy into the whole locker room cancer thing with any player, but this guy always seems to be a problem for the team he plays for.
The other big thing is that he's not cheap. Diggs has three years left on his deal and he's making a ton of money. For a guy that's in his 30's already, that's just not the route the Lions need to go.
I fully believe they take a receiver high in the draft this year and they'll be glad they did instead of doing this.
It makes sense for the Lions to do something like that if Brad Holmes wasn't their GM. But this team is all about depth and you can get more depth with more picks. The draft is Holmes' bread and butter. I can't see him giving up picks to move up in this one. Maybe in the future though since I think there will come a time when he gets into his splash era.
Penei Sewell has WWE Superstar written all over him. He's big, he's athletic and he's charismatic as hell. Maybe that's his next move after he leaves football. He wouldn't be the first guy to do so.
