Well, it's about time. I know that I've been talking about this possibility since August when the Detroit Lions were looking for a receiver help and ultimately wound up trading for Denzel Mims. The Lions are getting a free agent visit from receiver Tre'Quan Smith.

Smith spent three seasons with Dan Campbell as his assistant coach on the Saints and he was a pretty productive player during that stretch and even after. Smith is not a superstar receiver, but he's a solid depth piece that's usually good for 40 plus catches, 400 plus yards and four to five touchdowns a year.

Smith was a part of the Saints to start the season before hitting injured reserve with a groin injury. The Saints waived him after he got back and he spent the season in Denver on their practice squad.

Smith should have a solid chance of getting signed in Detroit with his history with Campbell and his history of reliability.

Update: The Lions have signed Smith to a futures deal.
