Kansas City Chiefs’ final injury report for Week 2 vs. Indianapolis Colts rules out 2 starters, 2 others deemed questionable
The Kansas City Chiefs released their final injury report for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Kansas City Chiefs have released their final injury report ahead of Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts on “Sunday Night Football.”
For the second consecutive week, the Chiefs will be without starting LT Josh Simmons (back) and starting SS Chamarri Conner (knee). However, those seem to be the only injuries likely to cause absences. Seven more players are on the injury report with various ailments, and while two players are listed as questionable, I’d wager they’re closer to probable.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the final Week 2 injury reports, including game-status designations. Keep in mind that clubs can add to the injury report up to Week 2’s kickoff on Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs’ Friday injury report for Week 2
| Player | Injury | Wed./Thu./Fri. | Designation |
|---|---|---|---|
| LT Josh Simmons | Back | DNP/DNP/DNP | OUT |
| DB Chamarri Conner | Knee | DNP/DNP/DNP | OUT |
| DE Ashton Gillotte | Foot | FP/FP/FP | – |
| WR Rashee Rice | Knee | FP/FP/FP | – |
| CB L’Jarius Sneed | Knee | FP/LP/FP | – |
| DE R Mason Thomas | Hamstring | FP/FP/FP | – |

| DT Chris Jones | Calf | LP/LP/LP | Questionable |
| CB Mansoor Delane | Shoulder | FP/FP/LP | Questionable |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations
- Jones and Sneed’s injuries seem more like load management than anything else. Sneed told reporters on Friday regarding his health: “Feeling good. You know it’s taking it day by day, week by week.”
- On Mansoor Delane and Chris Jones, Chiefs HC Andy Reid said: “…And then (Mansoor) Delane practiced today. Chris Jones did a little bit today too, but I think we’ll be okay there.”
- Reid had this to say about S Chamarri Conner’s future availability: “I can’t give you a timeline, but he’s getting better. (It’s) just a matter of the swelling staying consistently out of (the knee), but he’s doing everything he possibly can do with the trainers.”
- Reid also gave this update on LT Josh Simmons: “He’s at that two-week mark now, so they’ll go back and reevaluate it. But I know he’s feeling better than what he was. Good enough to play? We’ll see.”
