Las Vegas Raiders HC Klint Kubiak got his first Maxx Crosby experience in training camp, and it wasn’t fun for anyone on offense

The Las Vegas Raiders have one of the best defensive players in the league. Despite what the media, other fans, or the Baltimore Ravens will tell you — Maxx Crosby is just about as good as it gets. There’s not another player who plays both the run and pass as well as he does, while playing as hard as he does.
And that translates to practice, too. The Raiders, and every other team, are in training camp right now. Having a guy like Crosby, who does what he does, at practice should only make everyone better. And you have to imagine that it really makes the offense, and a first-time head coach like Klint Kubiak, hate their jobs at times.
“Yeah, I think it’s just to be expected,” Kubiak told reporters on Friday. “That’s who he is. I know when we line up there in the team period, he could just ruin a play at any moment in a good way for the Raiders. So, it’s not just installing plays; it’s you’re also installing plays, and, ‘Oh, by the way, where’s Maxx?’ Those are things normally you think about in a game plan situation; sometimes you’ve got to game plan practices just to get a play off.”
Kubiak described coaching against Maxx Crosby as not fun, and it certainly seems like it wouldn’t be. To make matters worse for anyone who’s set to play against him in 2026, he’s only going to have more fuel to the fire.
Maxx Crosby is ready to prove everyone wrong after the Baltimore Ravens failed trade
According to several reports, the Raiders had been fielding trade offers for some time and reportedly agreed to send Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens were set to give up two first-round picks—one in 2027 and the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This would have allowed the Raiders to embark on a serious rebuild, possibly bringing in two blue-chip players for the future and freeing up salary for free agency. However, with the Ravens backing out, this scenario did not materialize. Other reports say Crosby did not pass his physical in Baltimore.
This situation only made the Raiders star defensive end more fired up. Crosby had been saying for some time that he was going to come back better than he was before from his knee injury. Even in an injury-riddled 2025 season, with 15 games played, Crosby played well. He finished with 10 sacks and a career-high 28 tackles for loss. Don’t put it past Mad Maxx to have an even better season in 2026 with a much better team around him.
