Las Vegas Raiders’ name is now being mentioned in the latest drama around the league surrounding a superstar player
The Las Vegas Raiders are in dire need of a nose tackle, and trading for Vita Vea would be an insane move to pull off by them.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been in the headlines all offseason. And, some of that has involved superstar players. Maxx Crosby requested a trade, was traded, and the trade was broken up due to a physical. Now, this time, the drama is the Raiders possibly landing superstar nose tackle Vita Vea.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ best defensive lineman, Vita Vea, requested a trade. And according to Ted Nguyen, the Raiders are a team to watch, along with the other California teams. He wants to go to that state, or to Vegas. And the Raiders are in a good position to trade for a guy like Vea.
Vea also doesn’t have a no-trade clause, but he can choose to re-sign after this year. The Las Vegas Raiders would be a perfect fit for Vea, and surely he would love to live in Vegas, where it’s warm weather, and he’ll get to play in a dome.
Raiders would be the perfect fit for nose tackle Vita Vea
The Las Vegas Raiders have been needing a nose tackle for some time now. Their current nose tackle situation in this 3-4 scheme appears to be Adam Butler, who’s not a traditional nose. They have guys like Thomas Booker, JJ Pegues, Jonah Laulu, and a few others that could play the position, but also aren’t really nose tackles. They need one, badly. And there isn’t really one better than Vita Vea.
Vea has been one of the best nose tackles in the league for some time now. Even last year, in a down year, Vea had 4.5 sacks at the nose tackle position. He finished with 36 tackles and seven tackles for loss in the backfield. In 2024, Vea had a career-high 10 tackles for loss. That’s just something you don’t see often playing that position. He also had seven sacks in 2024. This fit would be perfect; the question is now: how do they make it work?
