Puka Nacua’s latest career move could have massive implications for the Rams moving forward
The star wide receiver has hired a new agency to negotiate his contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams.
Puka Nacua has made a significant decision that could alter his contract extension negotiations with the Los Angeles Rams. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the wide receiver, entering the final year of his rookie deal, has hired Win Sports Group to represent him in negotiations. The move carries weight because the same agency has secured some of the largest wide receiver contracts this offseason, positioning Nacua for a substantial payday.
Recent track record
Win Sports Group represents Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who received a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension. That deal averaged $42.15 million per year, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. The same agency also reached an extension for Baltimore Ravens receiver Zay Flowers this week, a four-year, $140 million deal with $108 million guaranteed.
Nacua is getting himself ready for a major second contract in the NFL, and he’s chosen representation with a proven ability to maximize value at the position.
The Rams star weapon is slated to make $5.767 million in 2026 because of his proven performance escalator at Level 3. That’s a solid salary for a rookie contract, but it’s far below market value considering his production. Over the first three years of his career, Nacua earned less than $3 million ($2.949 million total throughout his rookie deal). The Rams have benefited from enormous surplus value, and the time to pay up is approaching.
The former fifth-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft is now 25 years old and has already established himself as one of the premier young wide receivers in the league. He earned first-team All-Pro honors last season and was a second-team All-Pro in 2023. Nacua is a two-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in receptions in 2025. Through his first three NFL seasons, he has recorded 313 receptions for 4,191 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.
Timing and leverage
The timeline for an extension remains uncertain. Nacua could sign before the season, during the season, or even next offseason. Even though he is in the final year of his rookie deal, the Rams will still have the option to franchise tag him and keep him around for at least two more years beyond his rookie contract.
That said, Los Angeles has every incentive to get a deal done sooner rather than later. With the rising salary cap and the way the wide receiver market tends to operate, the sooner the Rams extend Nacua, the cheaper the deal will be relative to future contracts. Waiting only risks the price climbing higher as more receivers reset the market.
