Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane is, officially, the last of his kind
Running back De’Von Achane will be the last Miami Dolphins player to attend an annual event.
Well, that’s all folks! The Miami Dolphins and the rest of the NFL have passed a point of no return.
The NFL announced on Wednesday the end of an era. There will be no more event held for the annual Pro Bowl — and instead Pro Bowl players will receive a similar honor to the All-Pro teams. It marks a sad end to what has been a diminished product in recent years. And it leaves the Miami Dolphins with one representative for the final version of the NFL’s Pro Bowl games. De’Von Achane is the last of his kind.

The Dolphins undoubtedly had a pair of snubs from last year’s Pro Bowl selection — neither center Aaron Brewer or linebacker Jordyn Brooks were named to the roster despite being voted All-Pros. It left Achane as the only Dolphin in attendance. Little did we know then that it would be the last time a Miami Dolphin (or any player) would be live and in attendance for the honor.
Achane’s first Pro Bowl games is ultimately his last, but he does join an elite club of Dolphins players to actually play in the game (or participate in the festivities).
Miami’s top Pro Bowl representatives in franchise history include Dan Marino (9), Bob Griese (8), Zach Thomas (7), Richmond Webb (7), Jason Taylor (6), Bob Kuechenberg (6), and Jim Langer (6). And, of course’ De’Von Achane. Miami will hopefully have plenty more Pro Bowl alumni in the years ahead. But if they do, there will be no game to play in. Or, alternatively, skip — which was part of the problem in the first place.
