Miami Dolphins sportswriter celebrates the team’s 60th anniversary—but expect one current face to crash the party next time around
Legendary South Florida sportswriter Dave Hyde put out his 60th Anniversary Dolphins roster. I have a bold prediction for the 70th Anniversary team.
The Miami Dolphins‘ present day outlook is all-too familiar when compared to the last 20 years. They’re trying to get the foundation right. But there is at least some hope, courtesy of the wholesale changes to the organization this past winter.
But when you look back across the entire history of the Dolphins’ franchise? You’ll see a proud legacy. Hall of Famers. Championships. One of the winningest franchises in league history. This year also happens to mark the 60th anniversary of the franchise — as recognized by legendary South Florida sportswriter Dave Hyde. To mark the occasion, Hyde assembled an All-Dolphins team from 60 years of history.
I have a bold prediction for one name that we’ll see on the next edition of the list, when it becomes the 70th anniversary All-Dolphins team.
BOLD PREDICTION: The next ‘Anniversary’ roster for the Miami Dolphins 10 years from now will include LB Jordyn Brooks
Hyde’s picks at linebacker included Zach Thomas (duh, a Hall of Famer), Nick Buoniconti (…duh, also a Hall of Famer), and Bryan Cox. Cox played five seasons with the Dolphins, serving as one of the emotional spark plugs of those early 1990s teams under Don Shula. And he’s a great selection for the roster as is.
But Jordyn Brooks will ultimately go down as having a better resume with the Dolphins. Watch. Brooks is set to play his third season in Miami in 2026 — and then has three more seasons under contract with the team thanks to his new extension. Brooks secured a first-team All-Pro honor in 2025. And now he’s got a strong defensive mind at head coach via Jeff Hafley to help lead the way. The long-term upgrade next to him at linebacker (rookie Jacob Rodriguez) will put less stress on Brooks to have to be the space defender all the time. And that could ultimately lead to more splash plays as a rusher.
Consider me doubtful he ever logs 14 sacks in a season like Cox did in 1992. But mark my words: Jordyn Brooks will ultimately have a better Miami Dolphins resume by the end of his time here. And I, for one, am very much looking forward to seeing him on the 70th anniversary All-Dolphins roster 10 years from now.
