The Miami Dolphins’ search for reinforcements seemed to find a major answer Monday—without a single transaction

The Miami Dolphins‘ roster build this season has several strong building blocks. Plenty of rookies. And plenty of questions, too.

As the regular season comes screaming closer and closer, the discussion of reinforcements is an inevitability. And, unlike in the spring, the Miami Dolphins have plenty of wiggle room to sign some talent if they want to make a leap. The question isn’t “can” for Miami anymore. It’s “will”. But the single biggest reinforcement for the Miami Dolphins may already be here.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chris Bell shed red non-contact jersey at practice according to reports

Rookie wide receiver Chris Bell was once considered a long shot for the start of the season. Then, just last week, he was activated off of the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list and given the green light to start working his way back into football shape. One week later, he’s at practice for the Dolphins with, apparently, no limitations. The red non-contact jersey was nowhere to be found for Bell on Monday.

With the current state of the wide receiver market in free agency, you’d have a hard time convincing me that there’s someone available who would move the needle more than what Bell is capable of. The challenge, of course, will be that very process of getting him up to speed with is quarterback Malik Willis and into premium football shape. But make no mistake about it, shedding the non-contact jersey is a huge deal. It indicates Bell is healthy enough to be treated just like everyone else.

Perhaps he’ll still have some restrictions in the days ahead. But by and large, Chris Bell is no longer a hypothetical for the Dolphins. He’s a reality. And that makes him the kind of reinforcement that’s okay to get excited about. Even if he isn’t (technically) new.
