We’ve seen lots of Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley in recent months. Now, we’re seeing the most important one.

We’ve seen a lot of the Miami Dolphins new leadership group over the course of the past few months. Introductory press conferences. The NFL Combine. Owners Meetings. The 2026 NFL Draft.

But we now, for the first time, have been given a chance to observe head coach Jeff Hafley in his most important role: that of an actual head coach. The Dolphins mic’d up Hafley for one of the team’s OTA practices this week — and they’ve released the footage for the fanbase.

Now…full disclosure. This was put out by the team — so of course you take that into consideration when watching a coach work with his players. I’m sure the organization would be keen an hesitant to put anything out that isn’t flattering. But if you’re willing to accept this content through that filter, it is hard not to be impressed with Hafley’s presence.

He’s energetic and direct. Hafley is engaging with his players, both in providing instruction or encouragement.

But there’s a little “Hafley-ism” that has caught my eye that I especially like. “I can’t wait.” He said it to his team when talking about breaking down the tape. And he has also said it to players on the phone when the Miami Dolphins drafted them. “I can’t wait to watch the tape.” Or, alternatively, “I can’t wait to coach you.”

I, for one, can’t wait to get more Jeff Hafley content. Not because I assume anything from a results standpoint, but rather because Hafley feels like an exceptionally genuine person who is the centerpiece of how this team will be formed. It doesn’t hurt that he seems like a good coach with great communication skills, either.

The Miami Dolphins’ future is, firmly, in Jeff Hafley’s hands. This roster will be forged by him. The players who connect with him plus the future players that this group hand-selects will have a chance to pull the Miami Dolphins out of this lull they’ve been mired in. With our first sample of Jeff Hafley, the football coach, I’m already ready to see more.
