Minnesota Vikings are set to receive huge news they have been expected to hear
The NFL Draft has been a traveling event since 2015, and it’s expected that the Minnesota Vikings are next to host it.
The NFL Draft has been a borderline traveling circus since they left Radio City Music Hall after 2014. They spent two years in Chicago, Illinois before making it a traveling event. The Minnesota Vikings are fully expected to be awarded the NFL Draft in April of 2028 at the upcoming Owners Meetings in Orlando, Florida.
Minnesota Vikings expected to land 2028 NFL Draft
After being in Pittsburgh in 2026 and Washington D.C. next year in 2027, the NFL Draft will be coming to U.S. Bank Stadium in two years. U.S. Bank Stadium has already hosted a Super Bowl in February of 2018 and a Final Four in April of 2019. Even so, hosting the NFL Draft is a different beast. While Minneapolis has been used to hosting major events over the years, especially in that area, it’s not the biggest area. The event is mostly held outside with an amphitheater, not within the walls of U.S. Bank Stadium.
With how the area outside of U.S. Bank is structured, there is room to have thousands of people, but is the infrastructure enough to handle the tens of thousands of people who will be attending? It’s certainly a question mark, but awarding it to Minneapolis means they think it’s not an issue at all.
Hosting it would be a huge boon to the economy for the Twin Cities, potentially influxing $100 million into the local economy. Plus, the weather will likely be good enough to enjoy the event.
This is a big win for the city of Minneapolis, becoming the 13th city in the modern NFL to host the event.
