“We’re on the right track” — New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn delivers unbelievable response after another devastating divisional loss

Aaron Glenn insists the Jets are headed in the right direction despite falling to 2-5 and remaining winless against division rivals under his leadership. His comments tell a different story.

Are the New York Jets on the right track under head coach Aaron Glenn? While the Jets coach says yes, we all know the answer is no.

He was asked what he would say to the people questioning whether the Jets are headed in the right direction. That question comes up nearly every year in New York, no matter who the coach is or who’s running the front office. It’s never an easy question to field or answer after a tough loss like the one today to the Dolphins. However, what Aaron Glenn decided to respond with was quite the statement:

“I know that we’re not where we need to be. I totally believe that we’re on the right track,” Glenn said after the game.

He’s wrong.

Improvement isn’t the same as the right track

Look, the Jets went 3-14 in Glenn’s first season. They are better this year, even though this loss drops them to 2-5. Nobody is arguing that point.

The bar was so low after the 2025 season that the only way to go was up. Winning more games than a 3-14 team doesn’t mean the Jets are on the right track. It means they aren’t historically bad anymore.

The bigger problem is the division. Glenn is now 0-8 in divisional games. New York keeps losing games it has no business losing, and this one was the perfect example.

The Dolphins came in winless. The Jets got to play them at home, in cooler fall weather, with a great opportunity to pick up the first division win of the Glenn era and climb to 3-4. They didn’t get it done.

That’s not a team on the right track. That’s a team that can’t close the door when the door is wide open. A team that still doesn’t know how to win football games.

The early-season hope is gone

I’ll admit the start of the season gave me some hope. After the games against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, it felt like the Jets were close. They were playing competitive football through the first three weeks. They sat at 1-2, but they were right there and simply let a couple of games slip away.

That feeling is gone now.

The loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field was abysmal. The loss to the New England Patriots last week hurt even more. Now New York drops a home game to a Miami team that hadn’t won all season. The Jets are struggling, and it’s hard to believe they are close to anything positive at this point.

Why the Jets should move on from Aaron Glenn

I honestly don’t see how the Jets can continue with Glenn as their head coach.

Now, I understand making a coaching change midseason is never easy. It pretty much tanks the rest of your season, and no team wants to go down that road in October.

But look at what New York has coming. The Jets hold three first-round draft picks next year. GM Darren Mougey has done a solid job drafting and acquiring talent as he tries to get this rebuild going. The foundation of a real roster is starting to show up in certain elements of this Jets team.

That’s exactly why the coaching question matters so much. You don’t want to waste three first-round picks and a promising rebuild on a coach who can’t win a division game. Glenn can say the Jets are on the right track all he wants, but 0-8 inside the division during his tenure and a home loss to a winless rival tell a different story.

New York has a chance to set itself up for a real turnaround with the draft capital it has. Continuing with Glenn won’t get the Jets there, and the sooner the front office realizes that, the better off this franchise will be.
