Eagles may have found a quick solution to their biggest reason for concern from the offseason
Offensive line coach Chris Kuper goes above and beyond at practice, taking reps with the offense.
The Philadelphia Eagles got a glimpse of something special at practice earlier this week. Offensive line coach Chris Kuper was out there taking a rep with the offense, filling in at right guard, the position where he had a lengthy NFL career with a few teams, mainly with Denver. Kuper spent the past four years as an offensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings before things didn’t end well there. He had a connection with Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion from his time in Minnesota, and that tie brought him to Philadelphia.
We know Kuper has some big shoes to fill this season, but he needs to be given credit when he is doing good work. This is going above and beyond. He’s out there taking a rep with the offense. He doesn’t have to do that, but it goes to show he’s willing to go the extra mile, and I really appreciate that about Chris Kuper.
Will Kuper live up to the hype?
Now, will he live up to the Jeff Stoutland hype? I don’t know. That’s a little too far-fetched. But so far, this Eagles offensive line is producing in training camp and preseason. Kuper is making some gems out of guys like Willie Lampkin, Markel Bell, Micah Morris, and Jake Majors. That kind of development work pays dividends when the regular season rolls around.
Something to keep our eyes on as Philadelphia continues to build out the trenches. But credit to Chris Kuper, he’s doing a great job so far.
