Tank Bigsby is turning heads at Philadelphia Eagles training camp, and it might be time to start paying serious attention. Eliot Shorr-Parks reported that Bigsby had an eye-opening practice, looking fast and elusive while receiving 50% of the carries with the first team offense.

The former Jacksonville Jaguars running back, acquired in what was a fleece of a trade by general manager Howie Roseman, is playing his way into a significant role for the 2026 season.

Bigsby could be the perfect complement to Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley is still the bell cow. He’s a special back, and even though last season wasn’t a typical Saquon-caliber year, there’s every reason to believe a bounce-back is coming. With extended rest, better health, a healthier offensive line, and an actual competent offense under coordinator Sean Mannion, Barkley should absolutely dominate.

But here’s the thing: Barkley is getting older. He can’t do everything all the time. And that’s exactly where Bigsby fits.

Every time we saw Bigsby on the field last season, the guy was incredible. He’d pop off a 15-yard run, make you sit up in your seat, and then disappear for two games. It was maddening. The talent was obvious, the usage was not. That has to change.

I think Mannion is smart enough to realize that you need that second guy, that power back who’s going to grind out a couple yards on second-and-3, who’s going to take some of the load off Barkley’s legs and keep him fresh for December and January. Barkley and Bigsby can be that perfect complement in the backfield. The skill sets line up, the need is clear, and now the early returns from camp are confirming what we saw in flashes last year.

The Eagles just have to actually use him. Run Tank, man. You gotta use Tank Bigsby.
