The Washington Commanders are preparing for the NFC Championship this week after an incredible upset victory over the top-seeded Detroit Lions in the Divisonal round.
The Super Bowl has never felt closer for the Commanders, but before they take the field vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL had some bad news to share with a key defensive starter.
Commanders edge rusher Frankie Luvu hit with two fines from the NFL

The NFL announced 10 fines from the Divisional round slate, two of which have been given to Commanders' edge rusher Frankie Luvu. Luvu is being fined $16,883 for a blow to the head/neck area of Lions quarterback Jared Goff and another $16,883 for an illegal hip drop tackle on Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Neither play resulted in a flag by the officiating team, but the NFL deemed both plays required a fine.
Luvu's two fines, combined, cost him $33,766. This makes him the second-highest-fined player from the Divisional round, only trailing Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who was given a single fine of $45,020.00. Luvu will have to shake off these significant fines quickly, as his focus needs to be entirely on the team's upcoming task of taking down the Eagles in the NFC Championship, with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.
