There has been a lot of talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers taking a quarterback at 21 in next week's NFL Draft.
Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, and Jalen Milroe- all of these names have been mocked, mentioned, and rumored to be a part of the Steelers' plans.
But for the latter, he has met with the Steelers on multiple occasions, and he had an interesting tidbit on coach Mike Tomlin…
Jalen Milroe enjoyed meeting with Mike Tomlin
“It’s funny. Everybody has their own type of personality, right? You got the stern coach, you got the laid-back coach, you got the relationship-oriented coach. Coach Tomlin was chill, laid back when I met with him," Milroe told Good Morning Football on NFL Network. "It was definitely a cool visit, for sure. You always think you gotta keep your head up high. You gotta be serious the whole conversation. Nah, it was a laid-back conversation. And of course, we talked ball. We talked game and stuff like that. But it was definitely a more laid-back conversation.”
There was a time last season, particularly after his showing against the Georgia Bulldogs, where Milroe was a Heisman Trophy frontrunner and lock to go in the first round.
But then he and the Crimson Tide went on a decline and neither were able to recover. That was only exacerbated at the Senior Bowl, where Milroe struggled mightily through the first two days of practice.
He turned things around in Indianapolis, putting together a solid NFL Combine performance and looking like himself, albeit during routes on air in the underwear Olympics that is the scouting combine.
Milroe met with the Steelers then and again at the Alabama Pro Day, where they hosted him to a dinner the night before his throwing session.
So it's safe to say they are interested in him.
The question is, does that interest align with taking a swing on Milroe at 21, or waiting until 83?
We don't know if this draft will play out like 2022, where the majority of the QBs fell to day two and three, or if there will be a run earlier than that.
While Milroe is more becoming of the 83rd overall pick rather than the 21st, it doesn't mean he will be there though, putting Pittsburgh in an interesting spot.
