When former New England Patriots legendary head coach Bill Belichick decided to take the job with the North Carolina Tar Heels, everyone knew there would be an insane amount of media attention. This was an unprecedented move, especially considering Belichick had never coached on the college football level. Most were intrigued to see how this experiment would work out.
Coach Belichick and the Tar Heels have yet to play a football game yet, but are still constantly in the news. The latest headlines have centered about Belichick and his 24-year old girlfriend Jordon Hudson. The general public tends to hyperfocus on these types of relationships, but it took on an even weirder obsession when Pablo Torre dropped some information about Hudson not being allowed in the UNC facilities.
“Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me that there has been a decision that was made last week by the higher-ups inside the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest paid public employee — not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million a year — and that decision was that Jordon Hudson, she is no longer allowed in the football building,” said Torre. “She is not allowed on the football field.”
“Bill Belichick’s family is extraordinarily concerned by what has transpired. One Belichick family source told me, ‘There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades,'” he added. “In fact, the family has been digging into Jordon Hudson as well.”
In a very quick statement from UNC, it appears they are fighting back against that report from Torre. There’s no questioning, however, that they will continue to monitor all things associated when Coach Belichick, and the attention his last name brings.
"While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities. Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University.”
From that report from Chris Vannini from The Athletic, it’s uncertain if Torre’s report was completely incorrect or if it was reactionary because of the news coming out. One thing is certain, this isn’t the last time Belichick or Hudson will be included in the headlines. This is a story that isn’t going away, but only just beginning.
