The hits keep coming to the Oklahoma Sooners in the transfer portal. A day after starting quarterback Jackson Arnold elected to transfer, star wide receiver Nic Anderson entered the transfer portal as well, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

The hero of the 2023 Red River Rivalry, Anderson entered the 2024 season with plenty of buzz and was a favorite among NFL scouts.

However, he sustained an injury over the summer that kept him from playing in the first three games of the season. He made his debut against Tennessee in Week 4 but suffered a quad injury after playing just a handful of snaps that kept him out for the rest of the season.

Anderson was arguably the team's most talented receiver and was a key playmaker in their 10-2 2023 season. With the Sooners looking to rebound offensively next season, they needed as much talent as they could get to help.

It sounds like this won't be the only move coming to Oklahoma's wide receiver room this offseason either.

I've written before how likely it is that Deion Burks will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. In addition, it also seems likely that the Sooners will also have Jayden Gibson and Andrel Anthony leaving after both missed the entire season with injuries as well.

That would leave the team with just Jalil Farooq returning of their entire starting five wide receivers entering this season.

Though the Sooners played virtually every snap without their starting five this season, wide receiver was a position many thought would be a strength next season. Now, Oklahoma is going to have to find answers in the transfer portal and plenty of them.

Farooq returning would be a boon and I'm very intrigued by the potential of freshman Zion Kearney as well as 2025 signees Elijah Thomas and Emmanuel Choice, but the Sooners need to find more at this position.

As for Anderson, I hope he can stay healthy for his next team and make as many plays for them as he did for the Sooners.
