So, when quarterback Jackson Arnold entered the transfer portal, as we all expected him to, the fan base reacted pretty split. Some were mad at him, and some understood. And, I think it's important to remember that these are kids still trying to find their way, and with Arnold, he needed a restart after a horrid season.
Some fans didn't think that way and lashed out. The good thing though, the Sooners have some good players on the team that shared how they felt. One of his teammates shared a very warm, heartfelt message for Arnold after entering the portal.
This dude gave it his all throughout the whole season and never quit on us, I hope for nothing but the best – Davon Sears Jr., Twitter/X
This is what a lot of Sooners fans should adopt. And, Sears is right, this season may have been one of the hardest years of Arnold's life. Yet, after getting benched, he stayed ready, and actually improved throughout the season. His biggest issues during the years were turnovers and fumbling the ball, which didn't get fixed, but he did get better.
He was put in some crappy situations with injuries, a bad offensive scheme, no offensive coordinator and QB coach at one point, and a few other things. So, for him to have as bad a year as he did and stay, just was never going to happen.
You have to wish nothing but the best for the kid, as we know he will do big things.
