Ohio State is wrapping up their 2025 recruiting class and National Signing Day will be here before we know it. With that, the Buckeyes will shift their full focus to the class of 2026.

The Buckeyes have just one commit so far in the class of 2026 and that is five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. Offers are beginning to fly to other players and the latest has quite the bloodline connection.

Ohio State recently offered the nephew of the NBA legend the late Kobe Bryant. Jett Washington is a four-star athlete in the class of 2026 and the Buckeyes are recruiting him as a safety. Safeties coach Matt Guerreri offered Washington on Monday.

Washington is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound athlete at Bishop Gorman High School out in Nevada, a powerhouse that the Buckeyes are very familiar with recruiting from. According to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings, Washington is the No. 64 player in the country for the class of 2025.

Of course being the nephew of a hall of fame basketball player, Washington is a very good hooper himself. A true all around athlete that excels at whatever he does. Washington is a legit high-major prospect in basketball as well.

The length of Washington at safety is intriguing and his athletically pops off the screen when watching his tape. Programs like Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas are among the programs that have already offered the talented prospect.

Washington has visited Columbus twice in the past and it would not be a surprise if he makes his way back in the near future with an offer in hand. It is a pretty unique story all in all, with him being the nephew of Bryant. We will see if the Buckeyes have a legit change at him as he pushes through his junior season and into his senior year.
