Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables has a huge issue that Lincoln Riley has at USC
You know the age-old saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same, right? That's pretty much what's going on with the Oklahoma Sooners. You know the age-old saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same, right? That's pretty much what's going on with the Oklahoma Sooners. However, they are a much worse team than when Lincoln Riley ran things. People won't like to hear that, but it's the truth. By far, the Sooners are a worse team now.
But here's where they stay the same: They are elite on one side of the ball, i.e., defense this year and offense under Riley, and extremely bad on the other side of the ball. This year, the team has been very bad on offense, and under Riley, they could never get any good on defense.

Riley is 0-3 against AP Top-10 opponents and 4-9 against ranked teams, and Brent Venables is no better. Actually, he is significantly worse, according to various mixed results found during research. All of them, though, were worse than Riley's record.
When you have a school as historic and prestigious of a football program as the Oklahoma Sooners, you have to beat the big teams. You have to win ranked games and you have to be able to get over that hump.
This school and fan base demands excellence, and that's not what they're getting, or have gotten the last three years. In fact, they haven't gotten anywhere close to excellence in one single game this year.
The Sooners have to get back to consistently winning football games and winning a lot of them. This very well could be the first time in 26 years that the Sooners have not made a bowl game, and that's just sad.
Brent Venables ‘could care less’ about Oklahoma ties regarding next Sooners’ offensive coordinator
The Oklahoma Sooners finally did the inevitable and fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell. While they won't be making a new hire anytime soon, they will have plenty of criteria and pull to hire the best possible candidate. One thing head coach Brent Venables won't be looking for is ties to Oklahoma. Both of his offensive […]
