The New Orleans Saints' search for a new offensive coordinator has commenced. They'll interview plenty of candidates to finds Pete Carmichael Jr.'s replacement.

Their process has begun, and an intriguing candidate has emerged. Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher is getting an interview for the Saints OC job.

Pitcher, 37, played QB in college at SUNY Courtland. He coached wide receivers the following year at his alma mater. Following that stint, he joined the Indianapolis Colts in their scouting department.

His NFL coaching tenure has come in Cincinnati. From 2016-2018, he was an offensive assistant for the Bengals and was elevated to quarterbacks coach in 2020. He's worked hand-in-hand with Bengals QB Joe Burrow to further his development.

The most interesting part of Pitcher's profile is his connection with the Sean McVay coaching tree. He's been a coach under Zac Taylor, a former coach under Sean McVay, in recent seasons in Cincy. Pitcher signed a contract extension in January of 2023 with the Bengals. If an offensive coordinator position is offered his way, it would make sense for him to take it, though.

There's only 32 OC jobs in the NFL, and Pitcher will be a solid option for any team's opening.
