This was arguably one of the worst games in Mac Jones' career, and it ended very poorly for the quarterback.
After coming out of the half and throwing a pick straight into the hands of Cowboys' DeRon Bland, Bill Belichick finally decided he had seen enough.
It was Bailey Zappe who took over in the pocket, replacing a struggling Jones. And the broadcast confirmed this while the Cowboys were still on the field.
Zappe was warming up on the sidelines and put his helmet on, with Jones seeming to support him.
And it was deja vu to last season.
Jones was making careless errors and because of that, the Patriots were trailing 28-3. And had any hope unlike Super Bowl LI, where New England fought back from that deficit to win.
Zappe has served as Jones' backup for two seasons now and has proven that he can handle himself in games. After Jones was injured last season he came in and helped lead the team to two victories before the starting quarterback was ready to return.
And they even opted to put him in during one game, replacing Jones.
On Sunday, Jones ended the game with one fumble and two interceptions. He finished going 12-for-21 with 150 yards.
Let's see if Zappe can turn this game around.
