Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mack Hollins joined the club of many fans who were not pleased with quarterback Desmond Ridder's performance on Sunday.
The ESPN broadcast caught a glimpse of a heated moment on the sideline where Ridder went to high-five Hollins up toward the end of the first quarter and Hollins wanted nothing to do with him.
Instead, he appeared to yell at Ridder.
At the time of the exchange, Ridder was 9-of-14 for 73 yards and had thrown two interceptions.
After the game, Hollins initially tried to brush off the emotional exchange with Ridder.
“I had an emotional moment, but not with Desmond,” Hollins first said after the game, via FOX-5's Miles Garrett.
He could have left it at that, instead, he loosened up and explained himself.
“I put a lot of passion into this game,” he continued. “We have a lot of talent on offense, defense and special teams on this team. To play at a level that is not our standard is frustrating. I let that frustration out anytime that it comes to me…It’s 2023 and that kind of stuff is looked at as out of control or overly emotional. I play the game because I love it.
“I’ll compare it to family and if somebody was doing something wrong to your family and you spazzed out are you looked at as some weirdo now? Whatever people are going to write. I’m going to hold our team to a high standard. If that standard is not met, if that’s something I’ll do, that’s something I’ll do.”
