There has been a roster move made for the New Orleans Saints ahead of their Week 13 matchup with the Detroit Lions.

New Orleans has signed veteran S Jonathan Abram to the active roster from the practice squad. The move was first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Abram has already appeared in three games this season with one start for the Saints. The veteran safety has contributed a total of eight tackles so far this season as a depth player.

After being a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State, Abram spent the first three years and eight games in the fourth season with the Raiders organization. During the 2022 season, Abram also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks.

Now in his fifth season, Abram has started 37 of the 46 total games he has played in during his career.

The move comes about at the same time that S Marcus Maye is dealing with a shoulder injury. Maye did not practice on Wednesday and his status is in doubt for Week 13. It could be a bad time with a dangerous Detroit Lions offense on the other side of the ball.

Abram gives the Saints a veteran safety who has played plenty of ball and will be able to provide some depth. Kickoff between the Lions and Saints is set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
