The real reason Texans QB CJ Stroud just can't stop talking about the Colts ahead of the 2024 NFL season

The Indianapolis Colts 2024 season ended in heartbreaking fashion after what looked like an easy 4th down conversion ended up being a dropped pass, resulting in them losing to the Houston Texans.

To add insult to injury, due to the Jacksonville Jaguars losing to the Tennessee Titans in Week 18, the outcome of the Colts and Texans game ended up deciding the winner of the AFC South.

During the offseason, Texans QB C.J. Stroud has been on a pretty extensive podcast tour, stacking up the guest appearances. And it feels like nearly every single one involves Stroud choosing to bring up the Colts one way or another.

Some may take Stroud's choosing to talk trash to and about the Colts and their players as an insult. But personally, I think it actually means the opposite. The team that seems to be on the reigning divisional champs QB's mind the most this offseason is the Colts.

Stroud went 1-1 against the Colts last season, and as I mentioned earlier, it took the Colts' backup QB and fourth-string RB not converting what should have been an easy catch and first down away from being 0-2. And Colts LB Zaire Franklin let Stroud know his record when Anthony Richardson starts the game for the Colts, 0-1.

No matter what the reason is, I love the back-and-forth between Stroud, Franklin, and other Colts players. I think these types of interactions help create the best rivalries. And there is nothing like sitting on the edge of your seat watching your favorite team play a close game against their rivals. For the Colts and Texans, it seems pretty clear they are laser-focused on the other ahead of next season. They won't have to wait long with them scheduled to kick off the season, Week 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium. This time, the playoffs may not be the reward for the winner, but bragging rights are on the line. And it seems pretty clear that both sides want that badly.
