The Indianapolis Colts are taking on the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.
And a Colts defender has some extra motivation fueling him for that game.
Colts LB E.J. Speed appeared on Kay Adams' show "Up & Adams" on Fanduel TV. And among other things, Speed shared that he has a "bone to pick" with the Texans.
Speed shared that he knows Texans QB C.J. Stroud for sure enjoys to talk a lot of trash. This is a response to Stroud's podcast tour he's been on this offseason, which has included multiple shots at the Colts, one interview even including a direct shot at Speed.
Speed heard Stroud say he "didn't make any plays," and as he showed on the "Up & Adams" show, he recalls sacking Stroud on a big play on 3rd down last season to force a punt during the Colts' Week two win in Houston.
Some may dislike this kind of back-and-forth between teams, but I personally love it. I think this is how rivalries are truly born, and between divisional opponents that you will play twice a year, it's great for football. Speed and fellow Colts LB Zaire Franklin have done their fair share of responding to Stroud's trash talk this offseason, but in the end, the results on the field are going to be the decider. Week 1 can't come fast enough.
