It has been a busy week for New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones. And on Thursday he received some bad news.
While he was in attendance at Wednesday's practice, he was the only player missing on Thursday and was a new addition to the injury report.
The Athletic's Jeff Howe provided an update on Jones' hamstring injury, reporting that the cornerback will "miss some time" due to the injury he suffered on Wednesday during practice.
Before Wednesday's session, Belichick told reporters that he expected Jones to be available this weekend, but they will now be without him.
Earlier this week, the charges against Jones were dropped after he agreed to one year of pre-trial probation and 48 hours of community service.
This came after he was was arrested on June 16 at Boston Logan International Airport for trying to bring two loaded firearms on a plane. He was charged with two counts of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
Yet, while this is now settled, there is a still a question about whether the league will discipline Jones for his actions.
However, regardless of the league's decision, he will not be on the field Sunday due to his injury.
Jones is entering his second season with the Patriots after being drafted in the fourth round (121st overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 30 total tackles (25 solo) with two interceptions and one touchdown.
And despite the legal situation, he has still been in attendance for the entire preseason, reporting at the start of training camp.
The Patriots will take the field on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. for their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium.
