The salary cap issues for the New Orleans Saints have been well documented, but they've been working diligently to fix it.

New Orleans took another step towards getting under the cap on Saturday by restructuring the deals of linebacker Demario Davis and tight end Taysom Hill.

Pro Bowl kicker Wil Lutz took a pay cut to lower his cap hit last week, and several other players have had their contracts restructured recently as well including safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The Saints did take some of their savings and signed defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon to a two-year extension earlier this week.

This also could help the Saints in another way.

New Orleans is entrenched in the sweepstakes for the services of free-agent quarterback Derek Carr. The veteran is currently weighing his options, but it doesn't hurt that the Saints are doing everything they can to get more dollars.

In no way shape or form are the Saints done with their cap situation, but they have until the March 15 deadline to work some more magic.
