The Jacksonville Jaguars may get an even bigger look at some of their depth talent on both sides of the football in preseason Week 2. They may be without one of their most intriguing players in rookie Traivs Hunter, leading to more opportunities for others.

Travis Hunter may not play in second preseason game for Jags

According to head coach Liam Coen, the rookie sensation is dealing with an upper body injury. With that, Jacksonville may not play him in their second preseason game.

This is a bit of a bummer for Jags fans, assuredly. They are ready to see Hunter on a consistent basis in game action, but it makes a ton of sense for the team and player. Hunter is slated to be a notable piece to their offense and starter in the secondary for their defense. If you lose him due to injury, you’re truly losing legitimate impact on both sides of the gridiron. That would not be ideal for a team looking to get back to postseason play.

As for Hunter, he continues to add to his frame as he transitions to the pros. With that, he will only get stronger and more capable of playing alongside the massive targets and defenders around the NFL. This decision by the Jags would make all the sense in the world simply to take it cautiously with their most important rookie asset.

The Jaguars are slated to play the New Orleans Saints at noon (CT) on Sunday, August 17th. Other players will need to step up in Hunter’s absence if the team holds him out of action.
