Tennessee Vols fans won’t be surprised at all to learn that former UT outfielder Drew Gilbert keeps going viral after recently getting called up to the big leagues.

Gilbert, who made his MLB debut in early August, has gone viral several times for his dugout antics — specifically the energy he brings after a big moment.

Which, of course, is the version of Gilbert that Tennessee fans grew to love during his time in Knoxville.

The former Vol has even mixed it up with Colorado Rockies fans after a recent Giants win.

The New York Mets may regret trading former Tennessee Vols outfield Drew Gilbert

Gilbert was traded to the Giants by the New York Mets at the trade deadline in July in a deal that sent relief pitcher Tyler Rogers to Queens (former Vols RHP Blade Tidwell also went from the Mets to the Giants in the deal).

In his first 21 games with the Giants, Gilbert is hitting .264 with three home runs and 11 RBI.

Gilbert’s instant production combined with the high-energy vibes he brings to the dugout/clubhouse has many Mets fans wondering if New York made a major mistake by sending the former Vol out west.

It’s a small sample size, but Gilbert is showing he belongs in the big leagues so far. In fact, he looks like he could be a future star that haunts the Mets (and the Houston Astros, who traded him to the Mets in 2023) for years to come.

Heupel’s offense often utilizes tempo and wide splits to create opportunities to get playmakers the ball […]
