The Buffalo Bills are battling an injury bug ahead of their upcoming Week 2 contest against the New York Jets. The initial injury report was released on Tuesday, with a handful of players on both sides of the ball being limited. On Wednesday, the injury report gave a concerning update for superstar Ed Oliver, among other players.

Oliver was a one-man wrecking crew during the contest against the Ravens in Week 1 and showed up in some huge moments for the team. After Tuesday’s practice, Oliver appeared to have injured his ankle and did not practice. He could be seen in a walking boot on his left foot and was using a scooter to move around the facility.

While he played some ping pong, his status for Week 2 is uncertain, along with the severity of the injury or when it occurred.

One positive from the injury report is that Taron Johnson practiced on Thursday, after missing the previous practice with a quad injury. Still, there are plenty of names that were limited during practice: Dawson Knox, Shaq Thompson, Tre’Davious White, Greg Rousseau, and Jordan Hancock rounded out the list of limited participants.

There were also some changes with James Cook and Brandon Codrington, who had previously been limited but participated fully in practice. Keon Coleman and Christian Benford were also full participants while dealing with a groin injury.

Cook was a little worrisome, so it was great to see him back on the field in full capacity, along with Coleman, who plays a pivotal role on the offense.

Buffalo had to deploy a next-man-up type mentality for their opener against the Ravens, with rookie Dorian Strong filling in for White’s absence. With plenty of key players on both sides of the football banged up, Friday’s injury report will provide a much clearer picture of how available the team will be for the upcoming contest.

Oliver showing up in a boot is more than a little worrisome, and paired with the limited status for some big-time players, there isn’t a lot of time for the team to get healthy.
