The Ohio State Buckeyes’ Week 6 win over the Minnesota Gophers came impressively with a 42-3 win over a solid team that is well coached by P.J. Fleck. Ohio State’s win was even more key because it was a big recruiting weekend for the Buckeyes. The night game against the Gophers was the only home game of the month for the Buckeyes, so they naturally had a bunch of curries on campus. One of those visitors was committed to a Big Ten program but that is no longer.

Major Ohio State target opens his recruitment after visiting

Three-star cornerback Khmari Bing was one of the visitors on Saturday night in Columbus and at that time he was committed to play for the Maryland Terrapins. Since then, the 2026 recruit that the Buckeyes are after has reopened his recruitment and is no longer committed to Maryland. Bing had been committed to the Terrapins since August of 2024 as an instate commitment, so this is a decent loss for Maryland, which is 4-1 on the season.

Ohio State extended Bing an offer on Sept. 16 and the official visit this past weekend was big in terms of the Buckeyes increasing their chances of landing Bing. The Buckeyes have 20 commitments so far in the class of 2026, but four-star Jordan Thomas is the only cornerback in the class for the Buckeyes at this point. Ohio State has several defensive backs they wanted to circle back to this fall and Bing was one of those.

According to 247 Sports Composite rankings, Bing is the No. 976 player and No. 76 cornerback for the class of 2026. Other major programs like Alabama, Michigan, Miami, and Auburn have offered Bing and this is clearly a player you look past the ranking on. Bing is listed at 6-foot and 190 pounds. Ohio State landed Devin Sanchez last class and it was Bryce West and Aaron Scott Jr. the class before that. With Davison Igbinosun and Jermaine Matthews currently leading the roomer, Tim Walton’s group is in good shape.

Bing is currently set to take visits to the Indiana Hoosiers and Alabama Crimson Tide. A decision could come soon after that and the Buckeyes stand in a great spot to add another player to the current class.
