NFL insider weighs in on Terry McLaurin’s injury, and his practice status leaves uncertainty for Commanders
Will the Commanders have Terry McLaurin on Monday night?
The Washington Commanders are preparing for the Monday night showdown against the Chicago Bears, but questions remain with certain injuries.
The obvious headline about the anticipated rematch is whether the Commanders will finally have All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin back from his injury. Quarterback Jayden Daniels came back from his own injury, and the offense is starting to click, but it needs McLaurin back.
One NFL insider gave his thoughts on McLaurin’s injury, and his practice status for Thursday backs up everything he said.
Terry McLaurin’s status is in doubt
NFL insider Ian Rapoport said Thursday morning that McLaurin was “not looking good” for the Monday night game vs the Bears, even with the extra day of rest. McLaurin suffered his quad/hip flexor injury against the Raiders, and he hasn’t had a single practice since.
Rapoport followed it up by saying “not looking good for McLaurin” after the injury report was released. McLaurin was technically at practice, but he was off on the side field without a jersey on, and was listed as a “DNP”, meaning he didn’t practice. He has two more days of practice to see the field to at least have a chance of playing Monday night, but I’d be surprised if he did play.
The Commanders did have Noah Brown back as a limited participant, so hopefully, some reinforcements could be coming back for Daniels and the offense. Brown caught the Hail Mary against the Bears last season, and who knows what crazy play he could provide on Monday night. McLaurin and Brown weren’t the only injuries listed today, as running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. and John Bates also made an appearance on the injury report.

Deebo Samuel had a heel injury last week, but he played and had his biggest game of the season, and he was given a rest day today. Bates just came back from an injury, and seems to be banged up with a shoulder injury, so that will be worth watching the rest of the week.
Right guard Sam Cosmi is projected to play this week or against the Cowboys next Sunday, which can make an improved offensive line even better. The team practices on Friday and Saturday, and the biggest question will be if McLaurin participates on any of those days.
