Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, right, celebrates after a touchdown during the second half of a NCAA football game against Navy at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, in South Bend.

It was a tremendous weekend for Notre Dame football, which was highlighted most by their 49 to 10 victory over the rival Navy Midshipmen. While that win is going to steal the majority of the headlines, head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish staff also made quite an impact off the field as well. It was a very important recruiting weekend for the program, and there was nothing but positive vibes coming out of the two days.

One of the more talented recruits that made the trip to South Bend was 2027 Tustin (Calif.) High School four-star safety Khalil Terry. Considered one of the best safeties in the entire country, the Irish had put themselves in very solid standing over the last couple of months. They did, however, need to put together a great visit to set the tone in this recruitment. It appears Notre Dame did just that this past weekend.

Following that trip, things couldn’t be in a better place between Terry and the Irish staff. Steve Wiltfong, who is the vice president of recruiting over at Rivals, has logged an expert prediction for Terry to land with the Irish. I share Wiltfong’s optimism that Notre Dame gets this one done in the end.

Khalil Terry’s recruiting background

Terry is considered to be a four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, the California native is currently pegged as the No. 198 overall player, the No. 21 safety, and the No. 20 player from the state of California for the 2027 recruiting class.

The offer list is even more impressive for Terry, who has been pursued by some of the top programs in college football. His top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, USC, Auburn, Nebraska, Missouri, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Michigan State, Texas Tech, UNC, Arkansas, Utah, Washington, Maryland, Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Oregon State, UCLA, and Syracuse, among others.

As a junior, Terry has been putting together an outstanding season for Tustin. In 11 games played, the 6-0, 185-pound defensive back has recorded 62 total tackles, four interceptions, and 16 pass breakups. Terry has also managed to collect four tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble.

On top of Terry being an outstanding safety prospect, he is also the teammate of fellow 2027 recruiting target Taven Epps. The 6-4, 220-pound defender projects as either a linebacker or EDGE on the college level, possessing some rare upside. Epps just decommitted from the Texas Longhorns this week. Notre Dame is viewed as one of the top contenders for him as well.
