Head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame football program have continued to gain more and more momentum as they are riding a seven-game winning streak. During this past weekend’s matchup against the Navy Midshipmen, the Fighting Irish hosted an impressive group of 2026, 2027, and 2028 recruiting targets. Coming out of the weekend, the Irish are trending with several players.

Things are getting serious quickly with 2027 Tustin (Calif.) High School four-star safety Khalil Terry, who left the trip very impressed with the Notre Dame program. Following the visit, the California native has set a commitment date on Wednesday, November 12th at 12:30 PM Eastern time. Terry will be selecting between the Irish, Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, and UNC.

It wasn’t long after the trip that many in the industry started to put in their predictions for Notre Dame to land Terry. That included expert predictions coming from both Steve Wiltfong and Greg Biggins of the Rivals network. If you read my intel piece following the trip, you would know that I also feel very good about where the Irish stand. The talented defensive back will be a great addition for Notre Dame if he does opt for them on Wednesday.

Khalil Terry’s recruiting journey

Terry is considered to be a four-star player right now by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, the California standout is currently considered to be the No. 198 overall player, the No. 21 safety, and the No. 20 player from the state of California in the 2027 recruiting class.

The offer list is even more impressive for Terry, and he has been pursued by some of the top programs in college football. His top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, USC, Auburn, Nebraska, Missouri, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Michigan State, Texas Tech, UNC, Arkansas, Utah, Washington, Maryland, Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Oregon State, UCLA, and Syracuse, among others.

As a junior this season, Terry has been putting together an outstanding campaign for Tustin. In 11 games played, the 6-0, 185-pound defensive back has recorded 62 total tackles, four interceptions, and 16 pass breakups. Terry has also managed to collect four tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble.

On top of Terry being an outstanding defensive back prospect, he is also the teammate of fellow 2027 Irish recruiting target Taven Epps. The 6-4, 225-pound defender projects as either a linebacker or EDGE on the college level, possessing some rare upside at both spots. Epps just decommitted from the Texas Longhorns this week. Notre Dame is viewed as one of the top contenders for him as well, and if they land Terry, it should only strengthen those chances.
