Ohio State Buckeyes are tracking to steal another SEC commitment away from a team who fired their coach
Ohio State has been on a real heater lately.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are taking care of business on the field — and they’ve heated up quite a bit on the recruiting trail as well.
Ohio State was always expected to be active late in the 2026 cycle, as they circled back to a number of their top targets. Adding 2026 cornerback Jay Timmons, a former Florida State commit, and 2026 athlete Legend Bey, a former Tennessee commit, were both big wins for the Buckeyes. But Ohio State isn’t done yet with its flip efforts.
The Buckeyes are now looking to flip another major SEC commitment
When Ohio State hosts the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, it’ll be a night game in The Shoe — and an opportunity for recruits to visit campus late in the regular season. The Buckeyes will host four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh, who is the top commitment in Florida’s 2026 class. Bronaugh was offered by the Buckeyes on Oct. 25, and getting him on campus is a huge step in the right direction.
Bronaugh, who has been committed to the Gators since June, is from Winter Garden, Florida. The biggest challenge for Ohio State in this recruitment will be distance — and that’s where they’ll have to win over Bronaugh and his family. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Bronaugh is the No. 14 cornerback and No. 120 overall player nationally.
After adding Timmons from Florida State, the Buckeyes now have two cornerbacks committed, with Jordan Thomas already in the class as well. It’s clear Ohio State wants to take three cornerbacks in this class, and it makes sense why; the Buckeyes could very well lose Davison Igbinosun, Jermaine Mathews Jr., and Lorenzo Styles after this season.
Ohio State is looking to take advantage of the Gators’ moving on from head coach Billy Napier, just as schools often do when coaching changes occur. The Buckeyes offered the 6-foot-1 cornerback late in the recruiting cycle, but they have clearly captured his attention with an official visit scheduled. Ohio State could come out of the weekend with more than just a win over UCLA.
