Josh Pate drops his prediction for the Ohio State Buckeyes traveling north to take on the Michigan Wolverines
The Ohio State Buckeyes are trying to end a four game losing streak against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are heading up north this weekend looking to stay undefeated while ending their losing streak against the Michigan Wolverines. Ohio State is 11-0 after a win over Rutgers and can secure a spot in the Big Ten Championship with a victory in Ann Arbor.
Ryan Day is 81-10 as the head coach in Columbus, but four of those losses have come against the Wolverines. Last year’s loss to Michigan ultimately became a blessing in disguise for the Buckeyes because of the College Football Playoff run that followed. Ohio State enters this weekend as a two-score favorite, but that means very little once the ball is snapped.
Josh Pate chooses Michigan to beat Ohio State
“Michigan will win this game. Michigan covers. Michigan moneyline. Look, if that’s what it takes for Ryan Day and company to win this game—for me to pick against them—then I’ll be happy to take the fall for it,” Pate said on Tuesday night. “I’m just saying I’ve tried to ride with you the past four years. You guys have done this to me.”
Pate pointed out that he has picked Ohio State in recent years only to be let down each time. His stance now is that he would rather be proven wrong by the Buckeyes ending their losing streak. Ohio State’s 11-0 start has accomplished nothing yet, and all of their goals remain in front of them.
After not playing against Rutgers, much of the focus this week will be on the status of Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate—both in terms of whether they’ll play and how much they’ll be able to contribute. Smith has already said he expects to play against Michigan. Tate is the bigger question after missing the last three games. Ohio State has dominated the rivalry for most of the 2000s, but they’ve struggled against Michigan as of late. The Buckeyes will have a chance to take back the rivalry on Saturday and regain some believers in their ability to get it done.
