Miami HC Mario Cristobal doesn’t hold back on how he views Ohio State football ahead of the Cotton Bowl in Texas
Ohio State will be trying to right the ship against Miami after losing the Big Ten title game to Indiana.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will try to leave the Indiana loss behind them to start their College Football Playoff run against the Miami Hurricanes.
Ohio State’s offense was not good enough against Indiana and they fell 13-10 as a result. The Buckeyes had trouble with the Hoosiers’ defensive line and the Hurricanes present a better defensive line that could cause issues. Heading into the game, Miami HC Mario Cristobal clearly thinks highly of the Buckeyes.
Mario Cristobal gives a strong take on the Ohio State Buckeyes
“They’re the defending national champions. They have elite talent, some really high-caliber players,” Cristobal said on Monday. “And you know, just about in every category offensively and defensively, they’re one, two, three, four, five in the country. They do a great job coaching. They’ve got great physical and mental toughness. They’ve played some elite football throughout the course of the season.”
Miami got past Texas A&M on the road in the first round of the College Football Playoff to move on to play the Buckeyes. The Hurricanes sacked Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed seven times, something that the Buckeyes can’t allow if they want to advance to the semifinal game against either Ole Miss or Georgia. Ohio State will be without RG Tegra Tshabola and Gabe VanSickle is expected to get the start for him.
Cristobal isn’t about giving Ohio State any extra motivation and his comments show that, clearly. He’s also not wrong about anything he said, Ohio State plays the best brand of complementary football in college football. Both of these rosters are elite and as a result next Wednesday’s game in Arlington, Texas should be a really good one.
