Former Ohio State football starter now in the transfer portal is set to visit a pair of SEC programs
His landing spot from Columbus could be somewhere in the SEC.
The Ohio State Buckeyes like every other team in college football are navigating the transfer portal.
With the portal open, the Buckeyes have lost double-digit players. The majority of the exits were expected — and one player who decided to transfer was starting RG Tegra Tshabola. Tshabola spent four years with the program, the last two years he was a starter.
Ohio State transfer Tegra Tshabola could wind up in the SEC
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Tshabola is going to visit both Auburn and Kentucky. Auburn is under new leadership with former Ohio State graduate assistant Alex Golesh as the head coach. Kentucky could be an interesting landing spot as a school that recruited him out of high school — and they’re now led by former Oregon Ducks OC Will Stein.
Tshabola is rated as a top-80 player in the transfer portal and No. 2 interior offensive lineman, per 247 Sports. As a recruit in the class of 2022, Ohio State landed Tshabola as the No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 104 player in the country out of Lakota West (OH).
In 2024, Tshabola started all 16 games for the Buckeyes on their way to a national championship. This past season, Tshabola started every game except the Cotton Bowl against Miami — though he was rotated out for at least a drive in every game but one. Tshabola’s inconsistencies were the only real problem with the offensive line while they were healthy. Ohio State will now have a new starter at the position next season.
Josh Padilla and Gabe VanSickle will be options to take over at right guard. Ohio State could look to move Phillip Daniels inside as well and find a replacement at right tackle. With Tshabola already set to visit two SEC programs, the experienced guard is going to land on his feet in his last year of college football.
