The Ohio State Buckeyes still want to maintain a major focus on high school recruiting, even with the upswing in transfer portal activity. They’re off to a great start in 2027 to add another top-5 recruiting class.

Ohio State has nine commitments so far for 2027 and the No. 3-ranked class, per 247 Sports. Recruits are beginning to schedule official visits and commitments will soon see a big uptick

Ohio State takes a key step with a crucial  2027 target who is considering Alabama and Oregon

Millbrook (NC) EDGE Rashad Streets is down to six schools in his recruitment and the Buckeyes are a finalist. Ohio State is joined by Alabama, Oregon, South Carolina, Florida State, and North Carolina State.

The good news here for the Buckeyes is that they already have Streets’ high school teammate LB Quinton Cypher committed in the class. Cypher is a top-150 player in the class and a key commitment, led by linebackers coach James Laurinaitis. Streets is being recruited hard by defensive line coach Larry Johnson. Both Johnson and Matt Patricia paid a visit to Streets a couple of weeks ago.

Streets is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rusher who is rated the No. 8 EDGE and No. 66 overall player, per 247Sports Composite. Ohio State offered Streets last June and he’s been on campus. Getting an official visit locked in is the next step and that’s expected to happen.

Ohio State already has No. 1 EDGE DJ Jacobs in the class and adding Streets would give the Buckeyes a ferocious tandem for the future.
