Recruiting so far for the Florida Gators under head coach Jon Sumrall has been improving. He has secured three commitments so far in the 2027 recruiting class.

It’s not just the three commitments; Sumrall has thrived overall, including receiving expert predictions for five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. With the Orange and Blue game on Saturday, April 11th, the Gators are going into their last big recruiting weekend beforehand.

Florida Gators target Jaden Upshaw sets commitment date

Just four days after the Gators have their spring game, four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw will be announcing his commitment. He is set to choose between the Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, and Texas A&M Aggies.

At 6-1 and 195 pounds, Upshaw ranks as Rivals’ 42nd overall player and the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the nation, along with the No. 5 recruit in the state of Georgia. As a junior, he caught 47 passes for 902 yards and eight touchdowns. Doing that in just 10 games is impressive for a junior in high school. Before that, Upshaw caught a combined 78 catches for 1,062 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The wide receiver room as a whole is talented and continuing to grow. They have two young stars in Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson to build around. Plus, the youth with incoming freshmen Davian Groce, Justin Williams, and Marquez Daniel give offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner quite a future on the outside.

Per the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Gators are the clubhouse leader at 44.4%, followed by Alabama at 24.4%. Landing Upshaw would give the Gators a top-50 recruit, as their highest-ranking recruit ranks 105th overall. It would also give them much-needed momentum into the spring game, which would be massive.
