The 2027 recruiting class for the Florida Gators has been dominant for Jon Sumrall, and he’s getting a great start on 2028.
Recruiting is on fire right now for the Florida Gators. Head coach Jon Sumrall has the Gators with a top-10 class, ranking eighth on Rivals, and third in the SEC. The top player in the class in the No. 3 overall recruit in five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, and Sumrall is shooting for more high-ranking five-star prospects.
Among the class of 2027, the Gators already have 15 commitments, with most of them in the trenches. While 2027 is getting the majority of the focus, Sumrall isn’t holding back on the class of 2028.

Sumrall is making waves all over when it comes to recruiting, landing in the top-six for five-star edge rusher Jalanie George.
George currently ranks as the No. 2 overall recruit per Rivals, and the Gators have been making waves on the defensive line. George is from Goodyear, Arizona, which is not a place the Gators usually recruit, but Sumrall is showing that he’s willing to recruit across the nation.
George’s profile is a fascinating one, already measuring at 6-5 and 240 pounds. It’s an incredible profile to have going into his junior season of high school. Rivals’ Charles Power highlights that paired with his plus athleticism.
