A 5-star recruit the Vols are trying to flip is working against Tennessee in the recruiting battle for David Gabriel Georges
The Tennessee Vols are trying to flip an elite recruit from Ohio State, but that recruit is working against UT in the battle for five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to flip 2027 five-star EDGE DJ Jacobs from the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Tennessee is also hoping to land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges over the Buckeyes.
Unfortunately for the Vols, Jacobs is working against Tennessee in the recruiting battle for Gabriel Georges, which likely signals that flipping the five-star EDGE from Ohio State won’t be happening.
Cleveland.com reported that Jacobs has “been in contact with Gabriel-Georges in an attempt to help sway him into the (Ohio State) class”.
I don’t know how much Jacobs’ contact with Gabriel Georges will help Ohio State — I’m sure Tennessee commits are also trying to sway the five-star running back to Rocky Top — but this certainly seems to indicate that Jacobs is locked in with the Buckeyes.
Miami and Georgia are also trying to flip Jacobs, and it’s believed that attempting to flip the five-star EDGE could turn into a bidding war. That’s something the Vols are unlikely to get involved in following the Chaz Coleman disaster this summer.
The one hope that Tennessee has when it comes to flipping Jacobs is the fact that he recently signed with Adidas (Ohio State is a Nike school). But Miami, which seems more willing to spend big for Jacobs, is also an Adidas school, so that “advantage” may be mitigated for the Vols.
