Insider reveals what Tennessee was saying at the start of David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment and it’s very telling
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Ohio State Buckeyes are desperately trying to land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is set to choose between the Tennessee Vols and the Ohio State Buckeyes at 5:30 pm ET on July 22.
Tennessee has some momentum as decision day nears, but Ohio State can never be ruled out.
Gabriel Georges is a player the Vols badly want to land. He’s viewed as a program game changer. And landing him over Ohio State would be one of Tennessee’s biggest recruiting wins of all time.
But again, Ohio State is always tough to beat in these battles. Even though the Vols have some real momentum right now, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if the Buckeyes are the pick next week.
And if that ends up being the case, Vols fans shouldn’t be upset with Josh Heupel and his staff. They’ve played every card they have — including making the biggest NIL offer. Tennessee’s essentially left it all on the field, and that was the plan from the start.
247Sports’ Tom Loy revealed this week what a Vols source told him early on in Gabriel Georges’ recruitment, and it shows just how big of a priority Tennessee has made the five-star recruit.
“I’ll never forget what one source told me early in this recruitment, and it came from someone closely connected to the Vols: ‘We will do anything possible to get this done, and we will get it done.’ I believe they will be successful on that front,” said Loy.
That “we will get it done” comment shows how confident Tennessee has been that they’ll be able to close the deal with Gabriel Georges.
We’ll see in a week if that confidence was misguided or if the Vols correctly called their shot.
Loy, for what it’s worth, is predicting Tennessee to land Gabriel Georges.
