Former LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase’s reaction to a very awkward NFL reunion didn’t disappoint
Former LSU Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is now teammates with a player he previously talked a lot of trash to.
There aren’t many (if any) better trash talkers in the NFL than former LSU Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Chase, who is entering his fifth season with the Cincinnati Bengals, has never shied away from talking trash to opponents — no matter how big the stage.
Earlier this offseason, the Bengals signed defensive back Bryan Cook, a player who was once on the other side of Chase’s trash talk.
In 2023, Chase was asked what stood out about Kansas City’s secondary before a Week 17 matchup against the Chiefs.
Chase was specifically asked about Cook, who played for the Chiefs at the time.
“I don’t even know who that is,” said Chase. “Is that No. 6? I don’t know, man. Just a guy to me. He ain’t Jessie Bates to me. You want me to go (into) comparisons? It’s not the same. Just saying.”
On Thursday, while speaking with reporters at Bengals training camp, Chase was asked about now being teammates with Cook.
“It was just blown out of proportion,” said Chase of the trash talk he directed toward Cook. “I didn’t even really know who he was [at the time]. And I think I said that in one of the interviews, and it blew up. But I didn’t do research on Cook. Now I know who he
is.”
“It’s the NFL. It was going to happen eventually with somebody that I talked trash to on the internet,” added Chase.
I’m sure this won’t be the last player Chase has talked trash to who eventually becomes a teammate.
