Former Tennessee Vols WR Jalin Hyatt officially learned his NFL fate just before the start of the regular season
Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is entering his fourth season in the NFL.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt seemingly landed in a great situation when the New York Giants traded up to select him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
But after a promising rookie season, Hyatt fell out of favor in New York.
And now, after three seasons with the Giants, it appears Hyatt will be getting a fresh start in the NFL.
Hyatt was waived by the Giants on Sunday ahead of the start of the 2026 regular season.
It’s a move that was expected as the former Vol didn’t generate much buzz during training camp.
Hyatt, who worked some as a gunner on special teams this summer, missed time due to injury which limited his ability to make an impact in the preseason.
The South Carolina native caught 36 passes for 470 yards during his three seasons with the Giants, with the bulk of that production coming during Hyatt’s rookie season.
While I’m sure Hyatt doesn’t love the idea of getting waived, this is probably the best thing that could happen for his NFL career. He wasn’t going to be a good fit in the Giants’ offense under new head coach John Harbaugh. Plus, he could really use a fresh start.
Hyatt is still young — he’ll turn 25 years old in late September — and he has the speed to make an impact in the NFL. The former Vol just needs to find the right opportunity.
