Howie Roseman puts an emphatic end to Jalen Hurts noise and shuts down growing Eagles QB narratives
Philadelphia Eagles general manager denied a ‘make-or-break’ season and defended his quarterback.
Howie Roseman went on the radio on Wednesday and defended Jalen Hurts 100%. Frankly, it’s about time. The Philadelphia Eagles general manager was asked straight up whether this is a make-or-break season for Hurts. His response was perfect.
“No, I do not agree with that,” Roseman said. “All the guy does is win football games.”
Putting the noise to bed
Thank you so much, Howie. We can put to bed all the noise, all the commotion, all the ridiculous storylines that have been swirling around the Eagles quarterback all offseason. Look, Jalen is not a perfect quarterback. Nobody is saying that. But Jalen wins games. He has done what he was brought to Philadelphia to do, and he has exceeded expectations.
There have been some low points, sure. But Hurts always bounces back. That’s what separates him from so many other quarterbacks in this league. You can nitpick the deep ball accuracy, the occasional turnovers, but when you zoom out and look at the win-loss record, the playoff appearances, the Super Bowl runs, the guy gets the job done. Simple as that.
The offseason narrative is officially over
With all the contract talk going on and all of the fluff this offseason from ESPN articles and national talking heads who don’t watch this team every week, Roseman finally came out and shut it down. No ambiguity. Just a clear, direct statement: the guy wins football games. This is not a make-or-break season, he’s going to be our quarterback.
And I love it. That’s exactly what you want to hear from your GM heading into the season. Not some wishy-washy “Well, we evaluate everything year to year” response. Roseman drew a line in the sand and made it clear that Philadelphia is Jalen’s team. So now everybody can be quiet about it.
