Michigan pulled off the absolute stunner in Ann Arbor, and what a way to kick off Week 2 of college football. All week the narrative was the same: Oklahoma was going to thrash Michigan, Bryce Underwood is the biggest bust in college football, and the Wolverines are done for after what we saw against Western Michigan. Michigan did what Michigan does best. They made the game ugly, ran the football effectively, and won this ball game 17-10.

Now, I had Oklahoma winning in my prediction, but I had the game script right. This was going to be ugly, it was going to be a field goal fest, and a couple plays here and there would make the difference. That’s exactly what happened. Let’s break it down and another notable game from the CFB noon slate.

Bryce Underwood made enough plays to win once again

Am I changing my complete opinion on Bryce Underwood, especially passing the football? Absolutely not. But he made enough plays, and Michigan used his legs a ton in this game. I genuinely believe they shielded him from running against Western Michigan specifically to deploy him this way against Oklahoma. Credit to him for doing what his team needed.

And I have to give a ton of credit to Kyle Whittingham for having this Michigan defense play at such a phenomenal level. That unit was the story of the game.

For Oklahoma, this is just more of the same. This is having one weapon on offense. Rocky Beers is phenomenal, but quarterback John Mateer is just too inconsistent for you to trust him to win you a football game. His legs are dynamic. They had some key holding penalties that really held them back. Defensively, Oklahoma was doing just fine, enough to keep the offense within striking distance. But when they needed a play from Mateer, his inaccuracy is what cost them.

Congratulations to Michigan, because this result will shake up the AP Top 25 a ton.

Texas A&M’s physicality takes over against Arizona State

Texas A&M got the job done against Arizona State, and this was another upset alert that a lot of people had noticed heading into the weekend. Early in this game it was very much competitive. I said it would be competitive early on, but that A&M’s physicality and talent would take over. That’s exactly what happened.

The Aggies got two pick-sixes in this game after recording zero defensive touchdowns in all of 2025. It was incredible to watch them break the dam open. They win by 28 points, and Texas A&M moves to 2-0, but there are a lot of red flags with this team going into conference play. That’s a story to watch over the coming weeks.

Arizona State, for their part, has some dogs on the outside. Reed Harris might be their WR1, and he’s got a room with Omarion Miller in there. That group is ridiculously talented. If Kenny Dillingham can get quarterback Cutter Boley to stop making mistakes and develop into a better passer, that team could be a genuine threat in the Big 12.

What a start to Week 2. And the chaos might not be over yet.
