Ohio State hit with news they really didn’t want to hear right before Week 3 game vs. Kent State
One of Ohio State’s most important commitments will be at a major SEC game on the same day the Buckeyes play Kent State.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a tough Week 2 loss to the Texas Longhorns and will look to get right against Kent State in Week 3 as heavy 52-point favorites today.
Ohio State won’t learn much about themselves in a blowout, but the game offers a chance to get back in the win column and rotate through depth.
There’s another notable storyline worth following off the field, as one of Ohio State’s most important 2027 commitments will be visiting an SEC school.
Caden Moss heading to major SEC game for Week 3 visit
Four-star offensive tackle Caden Moss, a 2027 commit, is set to visit Ole Miss for their top 10 matchup against LSU and the return of Lane Kiffin on Saturday. Moss, out of Jackson, Mississippi, committed to Ohio State back in June over schools like Ole Miss, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon, and LSU.
It was a bit of a surprise to some that the Buckeyes won out over Ole Miss given Moss’ proximity to Oxford, and the Rebels are going to keep trying to chip away at his commitment.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Moss is the No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 75 player nationally in the class of 2027. At 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, Moss is one of six offensive line commitments for the Buckeyes in the 2027 class and one of the best recruits along the offensive line for Ohio State.
Landing Moss was a big win for offensive line coach Tyler Bowen, and now the task shifts to keeping his commitment intact.
Last week, the Buckeyes watched their top 2027 commitment DJ Jacobs take a visit to Georgia. This visit from Moss carries more weight. Ole Miss beating LSU in a marquee top 10 game and rolling out the red carpet for Moss on Saturday could leave a strong impression on the Mississippi native.
It’s up to the Buckeyes to make sure Moss stays in the fold. Ole Miss has every incentive to push hard for a flip, and a dominant performance at home against LSU would only strengthen the Rebels’ pitch in the moment.
This will be one to watch as Ohio State works to hold one of the more significant commitments in its 2027 class. It wouldn’t be a shock if this recruitment went down to signing day.
